Narrow-gauge railway Schwarzbachbahn

Short facts

The Schwarzbachbahn is a former narrow-gauge railway.

From May 1897 to May 1951, the only narrow-gauge railway in Saxon Switzerland was in operation between Goßdorf-Kohlmühle and Hohnstein. A notable feature were the two tunnels along the line - with a length of 63 and 38 metres respectively, they were the only narrow-gauge tunnels in the whole of Saxony.

Today guided walks are offered along the former railway line, and on open days it is possible to visit the display facility at Lohsdorf station.

In 1995, the Schwarzbachbahnverein (Schwarzbach Railway Association) was founded, which has since been actively involved in the reconstruction of the line. Since 2006, the line has been gradually rebuilt by the association from Lohsdorf station, currently in the direction of Unterehrenberg.
