Castle ruins near Goßdorf

The impressive walls of the Goßdorf robber's castle have long attracted visitors who are fascinated by the numerous legends and myths surrounding these historical remains. Schwarzenberg Castle once stood on a rocky outcrop around 50 metres above the Sebnitz and Schwarzbach valleys. The name of the castle was first mentioned as early as the 14th century in the course of an elevation by Emperor Charles VI. It probably served as a hunting lodge in this area, which was rich in game. The walls that still exist today were built on the remaining ruins in the last century, although remnants of the old foundation wall can still be recognised. The ruins were restored in 2003 to preserve their historical significance.
