Balcony of Saxon Switzerland with Mining Lodge on the Malerweg and National Park Information Point
There has been a mountain hut at this location for around 200 years. When Saxon Switzerland became fashionable as a holiday destination during the Romantic period, wandering artists in search of inspiration created the "Malerweg". This also led to the Brand, which became one of the most popular viewpoints in the region.
The Brand is ideally located for exploring the national park. Thanks to its proximity to excursion highlights such as the mysterious Gautschgrotte, the romantic Polenztal, the wild Schindergraben or the tranquil Hohnstein with its castle and Max Jacob Theatre, a variety of compact hikes are possible from here or with a stopover on the Brand.
The National Park information point "Blockhaus" is located directly at the viewpoint.
