The Wolf Gorge that divides the Hockstein

The Wolfsschlucht is a narrow gorge that divides the Hockstein into two individual rocks of different sizes. The rock faces are partly criss-crossed by quartz veins. Numerous iron steps lead up to overcome the difference in height. The entrance to the gorge is formed by an artificially pointed "Gothic" rock gate. Until the Devil's Bridge was built in 1822, the Wolf's Gorge was the only access to the Hockstein.
