The tour starts at the railway station in Ulbersdorf. The Sebnitz Valley Trail, which is marked with a red dot, begins just behind the station building. The path meanders along the Sebnitz, mostly on narrow paths and above the riverbank. After 1.5 kilometres, you can take a detour to Raschgärtner's Robber's Castle.
The Raschgärtners Raubschloss is located on a mountain spur above the Sebnitz. In the Middle Ages, there was a fortification there. It was intended to protect the river crossing of the old road leading from Neustadt to Lichtenhain. There are hardly any remains of the castle left.
The Sebnitztalweg changes sides of the river several times and crosses under the railway. When crossing under the railway after approx. 2.5 km, make sure that you continue to follow the path in the direction of flow of the Sebnitz. After 5.5 km, we leave the Sebnitz valley and the "red dot" markings.
We hike up the Kohlmühlsteig to the Adamsberg with a wonderful view: The round basalt hilltop of the Hausberg rises above Altendorf with the rock wall of the Neuer Wildenstein (cowshed) in front of it. Further to the right, you can see the Affensteine with the free-standing Bloßstock and the Schrammsteine. The Zirkelstein, the Zschirnsteine and the Hohe Schneeberg with its viewing tower are clearly visible. On the Pfaffenstein, the small rock needle of the Barbarine stands out clearly. The Königstein Fortress and the striking Lilienstein can also be seen. You can even spot the Rathener Elbwände!
After enjoying the marvellous view, we continue on to Altendorf. Keeping left, we cross the main road and turn into the meadow path. We follow the signpost "Kirnitzschtal". Shortly after the last houses, we enter the forest again and descend through the steep Dorfbachklamm gorge into the Kirnitzschtal valley. The last 3 kilometres are on a comfortable path along the Hartung promenade through the spa gardens (Kurpark) to Bad Schandau. The Elbe ferry crosses over to Bad Schandau National Park railway station every half hour.
