Zirkelstein (mountain)

Short facts

  • Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna
  • Viewpoint/viewing tower,…

Smallest table mountain in Saxon Switzerland near Schöna

On a wooded cone-shaped hilltop is a small sandstone rock about 40 metres high. The Zirkelstein owes its name to this circular appearance, which was first mentioned as Circkelstein in 1592. Due to its isolated location, the summit of the 384.5 m high mountain offers a comprehensive panoramic view, which is particularly impressive in the winter months. In the immediate vicinity is the somewhat smaller Kaiserkrone.

Caution, the cool winter air usually also brings snow and slippery conditions, in these weather conditions it is advisable to rent ice dodgers - for example at the Bad Schandau tourist service.
