National park information point Schmilka

Short facts

Saxon Switzerland National Park Information Centre

This small information point of the Saxon Switzerland National Park is located in the former forester's lodge at the end of the village in the direction of Großer Winterberg. It explains the development of rock climbing in Saxon Switzerland and the requirements for climbers from a nature conservation point of view, so that this sport can continue to be practised in the National Park. The National Park Info Point shows that the interface between climbing and nature conservation has been an issue among mountaineers for a very long time. Partly this was due to their own knowledge, partly also due to early official demands for rock-protecting and nature-compatible climbing.
