Former part of the rafting facilities of the Kirnitzsch

In the past, the Niedere Schleuse was part of the rafting system on the Kirnitzsch. The 32 metre wide dam wall has a dam length of 750 metres. In the past, this location was perfect for timber rafting, but today the dam serves to protect the Kirnitzsch valley from flooding.
