From Schmilka to the Kipphorn

In Schmilka, cross the zebra crossing at Café Richter and then walk uphill past the organic mill bakery to the edge of the forest. At the first signpost, we turn right past the national park information board. We follow the signs towards "Bergsteig" (up to the left). When the path forks, we keep left and walk up the Bergsteig. This is followed by many steps through the forest. Later, we cross a wide forest path, cross it and walk straight ahead into the core zone of the national park.

At the next fork in the path, the Kipphorn viewpoint is already signposted. We follow this and keep right until we come to another sign and turn right along a narrow path. We soon reach the Kipphornaussicht.

From here, we take the path on the right until we reach a wide hiking trail. We soon come to a road along which we walk downhill until we can turn right into Erlsgrund. We stay on this until we reach the mountain path again, which we follow this time in the direction of Schmilka back to the starting point of the hike.

In Schmilka, we can visit the national park information centre on rock climbing in Saxon Switzerland.

We pass the mill bakery on the way back to the car park/ferry pier.
