The Caspar David Friedrich Trail has been nominated for “Germany's Most Beautiful Hiking Trail 2025” in the “Day Tours” category. The coveted title is awarded annually by Wandermagazin. To mark the 250th anniversary of the painter's birth in 2024, the hiking trail was given a new route and signage as well as updated information boards. This project was implemented as a joint cooperation project. The town of Bad Schandau, the municipality of Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna, the state-owned company Sachsenforst and the Saxon Switzerland Tourism Association worked closely together.
The nomination underlines the result of this collaboration: a contemporary hiking trail that sets both cultural and scenic accents. The vote for “Germany's most beautiful hiking trail” will take place from 01.03.-30.06.2025. Participation is possible both online and by voting card.

Caspar David Friedrich loved the wild and romantic rocky landscape not far from the city of Dresden. He repeatedly wandered through nature, seeking solitude and sketching rocks, mountains, trees and ruins. Now, for the first time in Saxon Switzerland, there is an exhibition on the famous Romantic artist, who would have celebrated his 250th birthday in 2024. The immersive show “CDFriedrich inspires” is both a multimedia memorial and a virtual gallery. With room-filling video projections, it invites visitors to encounter the painter and his work, to see the landscape through his eyes and to understand the creative process - from the sketch to the painting.
