  • Christmas event

in the spa town of Berggießhübel

During the Advent season, the Marie Louise Stolln visitor mine in Saxon Switzerland invites you to join in the daily Christmas "Mettenschichten", reminiscent of the old mining tradition of the last shift before Christmas - an unusual yet traditional way to celebrate Christmas!
During an informative guided tour, you will pass the Marie Louise Stolln visitor mine, which leads into the mountain at ground level. After about 400 meters you will reach the Mother of God camp, the former ore deposit, with its underground lake. During a rustic mine feast or a cozy cup of coffee by candlelight, you can learn more about the tradition of the Metten shift and listen to contemplative but also funny Christmas stories and anecdotes. Live Christmas music rounds off the underground program.

Services included:

  • Entrance to the "Marie Louise Stolln" visitor mine in Saxon Switzerland
  • Entertainment with Christmas stories, anecdotes and music
  • Rustic mine feast with soup, sausages, potato salad, brown bread with bacon fat and pickled gherkins or, in the afternoon, with fat buns, stollen and pastries
  • Coffee (in the afternoon), mulled wine, tea, beer and non-alcoholic drinks
  • A Berggießhübel mountain spirit (schnapps)
  • You will receive your mulled wine cup as a souvenir gift
  • Visit to the museum in the Scheidehaus and the outdoor area
  • Photo & film permission underground and in the museum
