The historic-romantic Christmas market at Königstein Fortress thrives on the aura of the location and the lovingly staged, handmade and authentic events. Musicians, jugglers and puppeteers entertain without much technology. Traders offer their wares as they once did. Mulled wine and game goulash steam from large cauldrons over an open fire. And children's laughter can be heard from the hand-operated carousel. The hustle and bustle of the market continues into the underground casemate vaults. The ascent to the rocky plateau through the "SterneDom" - a sound experience illuminated by Herrnhut stars - is particularly romantic.
To ensure that the lovingly staged hustle and bustle remains an atmospheric experience, a limited number of tickets are available this year - and only on sale online. Although the increasing number of visitors is pleasing, this is putting a strain on the market, the entrance and the parking situation. However, tickets will not become too scarce. At 7,000 per event day, there are enough tickets available - almost as many in total as the previous visitor record. This is only to prevent the capacity limit from being exceeded. Holders of annual tickets, Schlösserland tickets, regional family passes and vouchers are also counted. They book the free "holder ticket", which they present together with the corresponding proof at the entrance.
