Prerequisites

For organisational reasons, this hike can only be booked up to 7 days before the date of arrival.
We recommend sturdy ankle-high hiking boots for the tours as well as a small rucksack for food and rain protection.
A good basic level of fitness, surefootedness and a head for heights are required for this hiking tour.
The complete overview of the booked accommodation is noted on the travel confirmation/invoice and will only be sent to the guest by post by the tour operator after booking the trip.
Communication during the trip is possible in the following languages: German and English.
The tour is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
For German nationals, the current identity documents apply. All other persons please note the respective passport and visa deadlines. Your embassy will be happy to provide you with information on this.

Tour description

Day 1: Individual journey to Bad Schandau
Use the afternoon for a short stroll through the tranquil spa town.
Day 2: Great Schrammstein tour: Bad Schandau - Schrammsteine - Schmilka (approx. 11 km, approx. 3.5 h)
Take the historic passenger lift (extra charge) up to Ostrau and enjoy the marvellous view of the Elbe valley. Continue into the mystical forests of Saxon Switzerland. You reach the winter village of Schmilka and take the S-Bahn back to Bad Schandau.
Day 3: Lichtenhain circular route: Bad Schandau - Lichtenhain waterfall - Bad Schandau (approx. 16 km, approx. 5 h)
Your day begins with a trip on the Kirnitzschtal railway (extra charge) or by bus to the Lichtenhain waterfall. With a bit of luck, you can marvel at a unique work of ice art here if there is enough frost. You continue your hike via the famous Kuhstall rock gate and the wintry Kirnitzschtal valley back to the Lichtenhain waterfall. From here you take the bus back to Bad Schandau.
Day 4: Bad Schandau - the spa town of Gohrisch and optional Gohrischer Folgenweg (approx. 8 - 13 km, approx. 5 h)
Today the hike takes you via Krippen into the ‘realm of stones’, as the region around Gohrisch is also known. If you wish, you can then take a leisurely winter walk along the Gohrisch Follow Trail and enjoy the marvellous views.
Day 5: Cunnersdorf circular trail to the Katzstein (approx. 9 km, approx. 3 h)
In Cunnersdorf you start your hike to the Spitzstein and from there to the Schneebergblick. Enjoy the wonderful view of the Schrammsteine and the Hoher Schneeberg before you reach the destination of today's circular hike, the Katzstein. You will spend the night again in the climatic health resort of Gohrisch.
Day 6: Gohrisch - Königstein Fortress - Wehlen (approx. 13 km, approx. 4 h)
Today's winter hiking tour first takes you to Königstein. Pay a visit to the ‘impregnable’ fortress here. Then continue via Thürmsdorf and Kleiner Bärenstein in the direction of Wehlen. Take the train to the spa town of Rathen.
Day 7: Bastei circular hike (approx. 9 km, approx. 3 h)
Today is all about the famous Bastei. You walk through the Amselgrund, past the Rathen rock theatre to the Schwedenlöchern. After climbing the many steps, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the famous Bastei.
