Tour description

  • Day 1: Individual arrival in Dresden
  • You will travel to Dresden individually. During a tour of the historic old town, you will get to know the more than 800-year-old city of Dresden better. The Zwinger Palace, the Royal Palace, the Semper Opera House, the Frauenkirche, the Historic Green Vault and the many museums invite you to visit them.
  • Day 2: Dresden - Bad Schandau (aprx. 28 mi./45 km)
  • You leave Dresden and cycle past the three Elbe castles, the famous bridge ‘Blaues Wunder’ to Pillnitz. Visit the former summer residence of the Saxon court - the magnificent Pillnitz Castle. The very artistically designed and extensive park is home to a rarity: a camellia tree that is over 200 years old. Your tour continues to Pirna, a town with a beautiful historic old town centre. After Pirna, you will see the first sandstone rocks and table mountains that give Saxon Switzerland its unique character.
  • Day 3: Bad Schandau - Decín (Tetschen) (approx. 25 km)
  • Surrounded by the bizarre rock formations of Saxon Switzerland, you have the opportunity to explore Bad Schandau on your own, for example, by taking a ride on the Kirnitzschtalbahn. You continue on the right side of the Elbe on the cycle path via Krippen and Schöna to the Czech border. The small town of Decin invites you to visit its castle. A nearly 300-metre-long path bordered by a 7-metre-high wall, known as the ‘Long Ride’, leads you to the castle.
  • 4th Day: Decín - Litomerice (Leitmeritz) (approx. 50 km)
  • On your third stage, you will cross over to the other side of the Elbe and pass Groß Priesen Castle on your way to Usti nad Labem/Aussig. The city is located in the picturesque hilly landscape of the Bohemian Central Mountains. Stroll to the famous Schreckenstein Castle ruins, which have a restaurant and terrace. From there you have a magnificent view over the Elbe Valley. From Usti nad Labem, cycle to the small town of Litomerice on the Elbe. Besides the numerous churches worth seeing, Litomerice enchants with its harmonious town square, framed by town houses in various architectural styles.
  • 5. day: Litomerice - Melník (approx. 45 km)
  • First, you can visit the Terezin Memorial (Theresienstadt). During World War II, the place became a ghetto for the Jewish population. Today, the Ghetto Museum and the Jewish Cemetery document the events of that time. You will continue to Melník. About halfway there, you can visit the collegiate church of Rudnik and Rip Mountain, which is known for its annual pilgrimage on St. George's Day. You can see Melník Castle from afar, where the Vltava and Elbe rivers also converge. The town is located in the Central Bohemian wine-growing region, so you can end the evening comfortably with a glass of Bohemian wine.
  • 6. day: Melník - Prague (approx. 55 km)
  • From now on, you will cycle along the Vltava, where it goes slightly up and down. You will cross to the other side of the Elbe and pass Troja with Troja Castle. The impressive baroque building dates from the 17th century and houses part of the National Gallery of Czech Painting from the 19th century. After crossing the Vltava, you have reached your destination. In the evening, the old town of the ‘Golden City on the Vltava’ attracts numerous cafes and restaurants where you can linger.
  • Day 7: Individual departure from Prague
  • Use today for a sightseeing tour through Prague. Visit Hradcany with the Royal Palace, take a stroll across the famous Charles Bridge or immerse yourself in the diverse nightlife of Prague with its abundant cultural offerings.
  • Transfer service or an extension of your stay in Prague can be booked as an additional service.
