• Day 1: Individual journey to Pirna or Dresden (depending on availability)
• We recommend a tour through the medieval streets of Pirna or discover the beautiful Florence on the Elbe.
• Day 2: Stadt Wehlen - Hohnstein (approx. 10.5 km, approx. 4 h)
• In the morning, take the S-Bahn and bus to the starting point of the first hiking tour on the Malerweg, to Stadt Wehlen. You hike to the most famous vantage point in Saxon Switzerland - the Bastei Bridge. You then descend into the Amselgrund and head towards the second highlight of the day - the Hockstein. Through the Wolfsschlucht gorge you reach the Polenztal valley, below the village of Hohnstein with its castle.
• Day 3: Hohnstein - Altendorf/Kirnitzschtal/Kirnitzschtal (approx. 15 km, approx. 6 h)
• You pass the Gautschgrotte grotto through the Schindergraben. The view of the fire in the first third is today's highlight. You then descend over 800 steps into the Tiefen Grund and continue via Waitzdorf to Altendorf and the Kirnitzschtal valley. Depending on availability, you will spend the night in Altendorf, Kirnitzschtal or Bad Schandau.
• Day 4: Altendorf/Kirnnitzschtal/Bad Schandau - Schrammsteine - Neumannmühle (approx. 18.5 km, approx. 6.5 h)
• You hike directly uphill to the Schrammstein viewpoint and along the ridge path through the Schrammstein massif. Passing the large and small cathedral, you reach the Affensteinweg. This leads you to the Lichtenhain waterfall. Via the Kuhstall you reach today's stage destination, the Neumannmühle technical monument. The bus takes you back to the Kirnitzschtal valley and Bad Schandau.
• Day 5: Neumannmühle - Großer Winterberg - Schmilka/Krippen (approx. 13.5 km, approx. 5.5 hours)
• In the morning, take the bus to the start of today's stage - to Neumannmühle. You hike through the Hintere Sächsische Schweiz to the armoury. Shortly afterwards, the breathtaking view of the Goldstein and the ascent to the Großer Winterberg await you. On the way to Schmilka, you should plan a detour to the Kipphorn viewpoint. In Schmilka, use the Elbe ferry and take the S-Bahn to your overnight stay in Krippen. Alternatively, you can walk a further 8 km along the Malerweg trail.
• Day 6: Schmilka/Krippen - the spa town of Gohrisch (approx. 18 km, approx. 6.5 hours)
• Take the S-Bahn back to Schmilka. Enjoy the view of the right bank of the Elbe with the Schrammstein massif. In the last quarter, you will climb the Papststein and Gohrisch before reaching today's overnight stay in the spa town of Gohrisch.
• Day 7: Spa town of Gohrisch - Königstein (approx. 9 km, approx. 4 hours)
• This short stage takes you over the Pfaffenstein with the Barbarine rock needle, past the Diebskeller cave to your hotel at the foot of Königstein Fortress. There is still time to visit the ‘impregnable’ Königstein Fortress before you take the S-Bahn back to your accommodation in Pirna or Dresden
• Day 8: Individual return journey from Pirna or Dresden
