Where is the Malerweg?

The Malerweg trail runs 116 kilometres through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains resp. the Saxon Switzerland.  The outskirts of Saxon Switzerland are just a few kilometres southeast of Dresden, the Saxon capital. The region stretches along both sides of the Elbe River up to the northern part of the Czech Republic.

It is no problem to park your car near the Malerweg Trail. Long term parking facilities are available for hikers changing their overnight accommodations after each stage.

Parking facility City Center Pirna, Ernst-Thälmann-Platz 2, 01796 Pirna:

• opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (exit always open)
• daily, weekly or monthly tickets available. For the Malerweg trail ticket make sure to pay and display a weekly ticket right on the first day on arrival
• fee for weekly ticket: 35 EUR, each extra day 10 EUR

Parking facility “Am Steinplatz”, Am Steinplatz, 01796 Pirna:

• opening hours: Monday – Sunday, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• no daily or weekly tickets
• a 4-week-ticket is available on request by contacting the facility management: Hausverwaltung Leitner, Dohnaische Straße 74, 01796 Pirna,
