Climbing in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains - the cradle of free climbing – is something very special, also for children. In special courses, they develop basic climbing skills that allow them to dare a guided summit climb with the whole family or to cope with the challenge of a high rope course. For rainy days, there are well-equipped indoor climbing centres.

For crafting, painting or other creative activities you need downtime. Holidays are a good occasion for that. And there are many options. In the Deutsche Kunstblume (German Artificial Flower) Show Factory for instance, children can attend an “experience workshop” every Monday and bring home their own handcrafted Sebnitz flower including a certificate.
At the candlemaker in the village of Krietzschwitz another century-old handicraft can be tried. Besides a good portion of creativity some patience is needed for this. If the little artists have both, they can create their own wonderful handcrafted candles there.

In Mariba Freizeitwelt (Leisure World) in Neustadt for instance the kids can enjoy tubing through the Black Hole in the giant slide including sound and light effects. Bad Schandau Toscana Thermal Spa impresses with spherical tunes in its Liquid Sound Temple. And the littlest visitors are best entertained at Geibeltbad Spa in the town of Pirna.

Fun games for grown-ups and older children are provided in the two local mini golf facilities. Test your skills and have fun trying to hole the small balls either in the “Forellenschänke” recreation area in the town of Sebnitz or at “Minigolf am Königstein” at the foot of Königstein Fortress.
