There are several parking options above the Zahnsgrund, from where you can start the tour. From the large parking lot in front of the Bad Schandau district of Ostrau, we first walk back along the road for a few hundred meters. When the road turns right into Zahnsgrund, we keep straight on. We also leave the turn-off to a garden settlement on the right and soon the path climbs quite steeply. At the next crossroads, we turn left and follow the signs for the Steinbruchweg. This initially leads downhill (an overgrown path branches off to the right), with two water drains having to be crossed in quick succession. In dry weather, however, this should not be a problem. The wide, easily passable forest path now winds above the Kirnitzschtal valley, sometimes slightly uphill, then downhill again along the mountainside, until we finally reach a small viewpoint. The impressive rock faces of the Affensteine can be seen in the distance. Now steadily ascending, the Upper Quarry Trail soon brings us to the Wildwiese with its impressive view of the Schrammsteine and the summit of the Falkenstein. There is a nice resting place at the forest huts, but everyone has to bring their own food and drink for the picnic. We then hike back to the Zahnsgrund on the Wenzelweg. The last 1.1 km must be covered on the local road to Ostrau.
