A leisurely tour in the footsteps of Caspar David Friedrich to the largest rock gate in Saxon Switzerland.
Even in Caspar David Friedrich's youth, the "Kuhstall", the largest rock gate in Saxon Switzerland, was a favourite destination for excursions. Painters in the 19th century found a natural phenomenon of the greatest emotional impact on people in the enormous layered joint cave of the Kuhstall. Friedrich was also here several times. His drawing from around 1818 was created during a hike with his wife and his friends Kummer and Carus.
