The tour starts in Hřensko at the bus stop "Hřensko, úpravna vody" and the car park "Hřensko Vodopádu". From here, a small path initially leads up the road on the left-hand side. The red line marking serves as a guide along the entire route. After approx. 50 metres, the path leads onto a footpath and you follow the road for approx. 1 km further uphill. Here you can already see traces of the forest fire in the summer of 2022. The hiking trail to the Prebisch Gate branches off to the left at an information board and the bus stop "Hřensko, Pravčická brána". Here the path continues straight uphill for approx. 1 km. At the next fork, the path continues to the right. Follow this path in the direction of Prebischtor. The first wonderful views of Bohemian Switzerland can already be seen here. Shortly before you reach your destination, there is another somewhat steep climb ahead of you. To avoid long waiting times at the entrance to the Prebischtor, we recommend buying an online ticket!
At the top, there is a small tourist information centre and the Falkennest restaurant. Behind the tourist information centre, a path on the left leads up to some highly recommended viewpoints that should not be missed.
The return journey follows the same route.
A place of inspiration for Caspar-David-Friedrich
In May 1808, Caspar-David-Friedrich set off on a hike to Bohemian Switzerland. His destination was the Prebischtor area, so that he could see the Rosenberg and Kaltenberg mountains up close. He travelled for three days and drew four sketches on one sheet. Friedrich had climbed the Winterberg, crossed the Bohemian border and hiked on towards the Prebischtor. This was the usual route of the Fremdenweg at the time. Today, it is no longer possible to reach the Prebischtor via this historic route. This route is a very good alternative to follow his tracks in Bohemian Switzerland.
