This hike begins at the Buchenparkhalle car park in Hinterhermsdorf. From the car park, we follow the path marked with a blue line (Hohweg), which first leads straight into the forest past gardens. From now on, this marking takes us - past the Dachshöhle cave - to the Obere Schleuse gorge.
In this gorge, a section of the hike can be experienced by boat. However, it is also possible to walk this section parallel to the course of the river (red and blue line). At the end of the boat trip, we climb steeply up the path, keep left and continue to follow the red line. Later we reach a junction to the right (Hermannseck). Here we have two options to get to the "Schlegelhütte" viewpoint. One is the "easy" path and the other is the path labelled "steep/narrow". The narrow path leads up a narrow metal staircase between the rocks. Directly at the Schlegelhütte, behind the view, we emerge from the crevasse back to the surface.
From Hermannseck, we continue to Wettinplatz, following the red line markings. From here, keep left and stay on the path with the red line until you reach the Königsplatz viewpoint. From Königsplatz, we descend on the other side, keep right at the next junction and stay on this path until we reach Höllstraße/Zollstraße marked with a green dot. Here we turn right and walk back to the starting point.
