The 30-kilometre stage 7 starts in Stolpen and takes you through the Vordere Sächsische Schweiz to Stadt Wehlen.
A rather easy section, but one that scores with scenic highlights. The ride through the Wesenitz valley is wildly romantic, but the final ascent brings you back down to earth. The route then descends via steep hairpin bends into the centre of Stadt Wehlen.

At the Daubemühle mill in Mühlsdorf, you should push downhill and uphill at the Wesenitz bridge. Not only is it steep here, you will probably also encounter hikers.
Watch out for car traffic on the descent to Stadt Wehlen.

A visit to Stolpen Castle should definitely be at the top of your bucket list for this stage. It towers far above the town on a basalt rock. The castle is famous for the fate of Countess Cosel, the mistress of Elector Augustus the Strong of Saxony, who held her prisoner here for 49 years until her death. From the castle towers, you can enjoy a fantastic 360° view of Saxon Switzerland and Upper Lusatia. Bikes can be parked in the castle courtyard.
