Schmilka, ferry landing stage
Bus stop Postelwitz, Ostrau junction
The hike begins in Schmilka at the ferry landing stage. We cross the tranquil village and follow the Wurzelweg uphill to the junction to the left (Roßsteigel) until we reach the Elbleitenweg.
Here we turn left (green dot markings) and walk to the next junction marked with signposts. At this point, we climb up the Breite Kluft to the right (green line) to the Schrammsteinweg, turn left here (blue line and Malerweg markings) and follow the ridge path (unmarked in the last third, green line at the end). The ridge path leads to the spectacular Schrammstein view - jagged rocks, table mountains and vast landscapes as far as the eye can see!
From here, we hike back along the same path, past the first descent on the right (Wildschützensteig) and the descent on the left (Mittelwinkel), to the second path branching off to the right (Jägersteig, blue line). It leads us down between the rocks via steps. At the bottom - we are now on the Vordere Promenade - we turn right and soon reach the Großes Schrammtor. At the crossroads with the national park information board, we take the path that leads straight ahead (yellow and blue line).
At the next fork, continue straight ahead (Obrigensteig, yellow line). Via numerous steps, this finally leads steeply into the Zahnsgrund. We cross the road, turn right onto the footpath and follow it for a few minutes down to the bus stop in Postelwitz, where our hike ends.
Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required.
The tour is suitable for children, but not for dogs.
