It will be a relaxed day trip by bike away from the usual highlights in the Vordere Sächsische Schweiz. This project will take us by S-Bahn from Dresden to Heidenau, where we will first lose ourselves for over an hour in the Großsedlitz Baroque Garden. There is a lot to discover here and around every corner you catch a new view of the sculptures, fountains and orangeries. Then it's off to the Elbe and the ferry to Birkwitz. If you need to cool off a bit, you can take a dip in the bathing lake. We follow the D4 route. In Graupa, the next cultural treat: the Richard Wagner Sites Graupa. The composer created his Lohengrin here. After a short ice cream break, we jet on to Liebethal, the ground of the same name tempting us with a pleasant drop in temperature. We continue above until we roll into Lohmen, where we catch an exciting glimpse of the local castle. Our next destination is the light railway museum in Herrenleite. On some days you can look over the shoulders of the railwaymen. For us, it's on to our personal highlight - the Milchhof Fiedler in Dorf Wehlen. Here you can not only visit the sweetest little calves, but also stock up on home-made products at the milk vending machine. Our tip: the drinking yoghurt with lemon - super refreshing. A little further uphill and then a breath of National Park air on the way to Stadt Wehlen. On the market square with the cyclists' church, you can either stop for a bite to eat or take the ferry and cycle to the adventure pool. Diving into the water makes us come straight down. And where else can you look down on the Bastei directly from the sunbathing lawn? At some point, the open-air fries are digested and we feel like moving again. We cycle upstream along the Elbe cycle path to Königstein. At deck 16, we can enjoy a bike, garlic spaghetti and just sit back with our feet in the sand and look at the Elbe and the fortress. Just under 37 varied kilometres, we look at each other: We have reached our destination relaxed.
