The tour starts at the train station Neustadt and leads to the right via Doktor-Otto-Nuschke-Straße and Friedenseck to the intersection Rugiswalder Weg, which you follow to the right. The second turn on the left leads past the outdoor swimming lake to Kirschallee, where you turn right. After about 500 meters, the blue line on the right leads you to the Tännigtweg, which you follow in a large arc.
Soon you reach the Unger steps, which lead to the summit of the Ungerberg. The panoramic view from the Prinz-Georg-Tower over Neustadt and Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland is worth the climb. The excursion restaurant recommends itself with delicious local cuisine. The ultimate tip from locals: try homemade aspic or the Ungerschnitzel!
For the way back choose the ridge path with green diagonal line (alternatively the nature trail). The ridge path meets the nature trail further down anyway. Cross the road and follow the markings to the Götzinger Höhe. The tower is suitable mainly for visitors who are free from giddiness, but it rewards with a wonderful view. Here, too, there is a Gasthaus to stop at - perhaps for a dessert or to refresh your own water balance a drink.
The yellow line continues to show the way back to Neustadt. On the promenade path straight ahead the railroad tracks are crossed. On the right hand side you will find the starting point Neustadt train station. To cool down, you can now visit the open-air swimming lake* or the Mariba leisure pool.
*Alternatively, you can also start the tour here.
