The Waldhusche Hinterhermsdorf is an adventure and exhibition area of the National Park. Four interconnected themed trails show different aspects of the topic »forest«.
The 66-hectare area is operated by the Saxon Switzerland National Park. This attraction got its name from the word »Husche«, formerly used by foresters, which referred to a type of slide on which the wood of freshly cut trees slid from the mountain slopes into the valley. At more than 40 stations, visitors learn playfully about a wealth of natural processes in the forest or forestry. The information is prepared in a way that is also interesting for children.
Highlights of the Waldhusche include, among others, a forest playground, a labyrinth, an underground root path, a bark beetle trail, a climbable spider web, a fox burrow slide, and from May 2025 a mini sawmill.
