The Waldhusche Hinterhermsdorf is an experience and exhibition area of the National Park. Four networked themed trails show different aspects of the topic "forest".
The 66-hectare area is operated by the Saxon Switzerland National Park. This attraction got its name from the word "Husche", formerly used by foresters, which referred to a kind of chute on which the wood of freshly cut trees "huschte" ("scampered") from the mountain slopes into the valley. At more than 40 stations, visitors learn a lot of things about natural processes in the forest or forest management in a playful way. The information is prepared in such a way that it is also interesting for children.
The highlights of the Waldhusche include a forest playground, a labyrinth, an underground root path, a bark beetle walkway, a spider web that can be climbed, a fox tree slide and, from May 2025, a mini sawmill.
