The hike begins at the Hoffnung bus stop in Hinterhermsdorf and leads from there a short distance along Schandauer Straße towards the village centre, before taking a sharp right down Dorfbachweg. From there, follow the yellow dot on the Hinterhermsdorf panorama trail until it crosses the path with the red line after a short steep flight of steps.
After the steps, turn right for a short distance and then immediately left again, which takes you to the Beizehaus - a national park information centre - which is well worth a visit for young and old alike. Then take the small mountain path up the rock and, after a short view, follow the Hinterhermsdorf panorama trail with the yellow dot to the Buchenparkhalle. From here, continue along the blue line to the Obere Schleuse lock.
On the way to the upper lock (Obere Schleuse), it is worth taking a look into the small and very narrow badger cave, which becomes a little wider again at the back.
Once you arrive at the Upper Lock, you can take a boat trip through the Kirnitzsch Gorge from Easter to October, discovering many interesting rock formations and learning a lot about the region. Alternatively, a beautiful path leads along above the gorge, from where you have a wonderful view into the gorge.
From the Obere Schleuse, follow the red line to the Hermannseck, which can be climbed in two different ways. On the one hand via the comfortable path or on the other via the narrow and steep staircase. However, it is advisable to take the stairs on the ascent and choose the easy path for the descent, as the other way round is somewhat complicated and not very pleasant due to the constant oncoming traffic.
After the Hermannseck, continue along the blue line along the Kirnitzschtal valley to the so-called Bärenhöhle cave in the Wolfsschlucht gorge and, of course, through it. After the bear cave, follow the blue line until a signpost without markings points you in the direction of "Hollstraße - Königsplatz". Continue along this path, which is a wide forest road and cycle path (past a junction to Königsplatz) until another signpost with a red line on the left points to Tunnelweg and Königsplatz. From there, follow the red line again to Königsplatz, passing the interesting rear pig hole and a rock tunnel.
Once you arrive at Königsplatz, after the longest ascent of the tour, you can enjoy the outstanding view of Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland.
From Königsplatz, follow the blue and green lines downhill again to the customs road, which you cross and then continue straight downhill along an unmarked forest path. Here you have to be careful not to miss a little-used path to the right into a ravine called Finsterwäldchen, which you then cross until you reach a wide forest road (Lindigtstraße) with gravel again.
You then follow the Lindigtstraße up the mountain to the Lindigthöhle - a very large stratified joint cave. From this cave, continue up the Lindigtstraße until a path (marked with a red line) leaves it in a right-hand bend straight ahead. Follow this path up the mountain until a signpost points to the last two destinations of the tour - the Lindigtblick and the Brüder Steinen. The way there is marked with a green dot and is also well signposted.
Once you have explored the Lindigtblick and the Brüdersteine, you return from the Brüdersteine until the next signpost shows you the way (marked with a red line) back to Hinterhermsdorf and the starting point.
