From the center of Hinterhermsdorf, follow the signs to the "Buchenparkhalle" restaurant. This hiking tour begins and ends at the parking lot there. The blue signpost "Obere Schleuse" leads you directly to the boat trip station at the Kirnitzschklamm gorge.
Initially, you walk along the Hohweg trail until there are two alternatives for the rest of the route: Via the "Dachslöcher" you reach the valley via steps and a direct route, or you can continue your hike on a gentle slope along a road.
The boat trip on the Upper Lock through the Kirnitzsch Gorge is offered from Easter to the end of October. At the lock gate, you climb out of the gorge to the "Hermannseck" viewpoint - either over steep steps or through a narrow crevice (marked in red).
You finally return to Hinterhermsdorf via Wettinplatz, where there has been a rest stop since the 800th anniversary of the Saxon ruling dynasty in 1889, on a path marked in green. As an alternative way back, we recommend a route via Königsplatz, the best vantage point in the Hinterhermsdorf area with a wonderful view over boundless forest wilderness.
