Our tour starts in Hinterhermsdorf and initially takes us along the National Park cycle route towards Rabensteine. We soon pass the Buchenparkhalle. If you wish, you can take a detour to the Upper Lock here - however, the gorge is not directly accessible by bike. The main route continues along the national park cycle path past the Lindigthöhle cave across the border into the Czech Republic.
Shortly after crossing the border, we follow cycle route no. 3030 on a well-gravelled forest path. A special highlight awaits us on a short detour: the replica of the house from the classic Czech fairytale film The Proud Princess from 1952 - a cult film that is particularly popular in the Czech Republic at Christmas time. We continue in the direction of Tokáni (Balzhütten), where there is a first stop for refreshments.
We stay on route no. 3029 and reach the picturesque village of Doubice after a scenic ride. The resort town with its pretty half-timbered houses has a rich history: In the Middle Ages, one of the oldest glassworks in Bohemia operated here, later the textile industry shaped the region. Today, in addition to a small lake with a rest area, there is also a curious square where old Eastern Bloc tanks meet carved wooden sculptures.
We continue along cycle path no. 3029 towards Kyjov. In this small town, we meet the Kirnitzsch river and can take a refreshing dip at the Khaa dam. Various inns invite you to take a break before we continue along the river.
An experience for the senses awaits us on the nature trail, which is lined with numerous bear sculptures. At a fork in the path with a rest area, we turn right and follow the route through the idyllic Khaatal valley. The farm tracks are well developed and mostly asphalted.
The rustic Na Fakultě inn invites you to stop for a bite to eat. The Kirnitzschradweg, which is number 3032 in the Czech Republic, leads us to the green border. We cross it and return to Saxony, where we rejoin the German section of the Kirnitzschradweg - the last section back to Hinterhermsdorf.
