Swedish holes (Lohmen)

Short facts

  • Lohmen
  • Natural monument, Information…

Gorges, craggy rock faces, fallen stones

A romantic and adventurous gorge with gorge-like rocky alleyways and jagged walls overcomes 700 steps and a height difference of 160 metres from the Bastei to the Amselgrund (or vice versa). The Schwedenlöcher got their name during the Thirty Years' War, when the inhabitants of the neighbouring villages hid here with their belongings from the Swedes.
