Central landing stage in Bad Schandau for trips on historic paddle steamers through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
The Saxon Steamboat Company pier is located on the Elbkai, downstream on the right bank of the Elbe, right next to Bad Schandau town center.
From here, trips depart down the Elbe towards Pirna and Dresden with stops in Königstein, the spa town of Rathen and Stadt Wehlen, among others. A boat trip can easily be combined with a visit to Königstein Fortress or the Basteiaussicht.
Arriving guests can reach the National Park Center, the spa gardens and the historic passenger elevator to Ostrau in just a few minutes. The Kirnitzsch Valley Railway is also within easy reach and opens up further excursion options to the national park or popular restaurants.
Worth knowing:
The teachings of Sebastian Kneipp had a major influence on Bad Schandau. In 1798, the first bathhouse with 8 bathrooms and 9 tubs was built in this recreational spa after the iron spring known as the "red raft" became famous across the country. Today, St. John's Church houses an altar from 1572 and a sandstone pulpit hewn from a single block.
The Saxon Steamship Company has the oldest and largest fleet of paddle steamers in the world. Several ships date back to the 19th century and have been restored to their original condition.
