Dohna
Historic in a dreamlike setting
Between Dresden, Saxon Switzerland and the Osterzgebirge mountains, Dohna is the second oldest town in the upper Elbe region with a historic old town and beautiful countryside.
Dohna with its districts of Borthen, Bosewitz, Burgstädtel, Gamig, Gorknitz, Köttewitz, Krebs, Meusegast, Röhrsdorf, Sürßen and Tronitz is the second oldest town in the upper Elbe region. Dohna Castle was probably built by Emperor Otto I in 960. It was first mentioned in 1040. In 1897, 1927, 1957 and 2002, severe floods ravaged the town, with the Müglitz causing serious damage. The citizens invested a lot of energy and heart and soul and subsequently made the town even more beautiful than it was before. With its historic old town, Dohna, situated between the state capital Dresden, Saxon Switzerland and the Osterzgebirge mountains, offers excellent living conditions and many opportunities to enjoy a holiday.
Relaxation is offered, for example, by hikes in Dohna's own nature reserve "Spargründe", to Weesenstein Castle (10 km), to Saxon Switzerland (20 km) as well as excursions to the cultural city of Dresden (10 km), to the baroque garden Heidenau-Großsedlitz (5 km) or to the Osterzgebirge (30 km). Small guesthouses and individual restaurants ensure a pleasant stay in Dohna.
