Author talk, concert: MASCHINE

Short facts

What has happened so far - MASCHINE talks and singsThe special evening at 7!Rock legend Dieter Birr in conversation with journalist Kai Suttner.

Dieter "Maschine" Birr is undoubtedly a rock legend:
More than 22 million records sold, over 4,500 concerts in 21 countries, around 500 self-written songs and the ECHO for lifetime achievement are proof of this.

Many of the songs he composed have become classics and are regarded as the soundtrack to the lives of several generations.
This applies not only to his time with the Puhdys, whose heart and head Maschine was for 47 years until the cult band disbanded, but also to his solo albums.

His most recent reached number 4 in the official album charts in January 2023.
Now the charismatic musician, who always interacts with his fans on an equal footing, is 80 years young. Reason enough to look back on his childhood and youth as well as his soon-to-be 60-year music career.

But anyone who knows the man knows that the busy, successful artist never stands still and is always full of plans. So "What Happened So Far" is not just a brilliant look back, but also shows that Maschine is still a force to be reckoned with.

Many anecdotes about his life have already become known through interviews, talk shows and other publications, but in conversation with Kai Suttner, Birr makes astonishing connections, reveals details that have never been told and clears up a number of rumors.

In a relaxed atmosphere, he gives a deep insight into eight decades of his life.
As a backdrop, Maschine will perform a few Puhdys classics, but also one or two new songs in discreet and intimate, but no less intense acoustic versions.
