Rathmannsdorf
From the Elbe Valley to the Panorama Tower
Centrally and idyllically located, Rathmannsdorf with its districts awaits its guests.
Rathmannsdorf with its district Wendischfähre is located in the right Elbe natural area of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and borders on the Saxon Switzerland National Park. Part of the village lies in the valley of the Elbe, the Lachsbach and the Sebnitzbach. There are good transport connections by train and bus from here. Another special feature is the stop of the Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland National Park Railway in the Wendischfähre district. There are connections to Bad Schandau, Sebnitz and on to Bautzen. The Elbe Cycle Path also runs through Wendischfähre. It leads up the Elbe via Bad Schandau to Prague and down the Elbe via Königstein, to Rathen, Dresden and Meißen.
The other part of Rathmannsdorf is on a plateau, about 140 metres above the Elbe. From the newly built "barrier-free" observation tower, there is an unforgettable panoramic view of almost all the well-known rock massifs of Saxon Switzerland. Next to the tower, a water treading pool and a water arm pool offer refreshment after long hiking tours. The hiking trails in the village are well marked and signposted. Several covered rest areas and well-kept playgrounds invite you to linger.
